We are staying in downtown Halifax in mid-June '09. My mother-in-law will also join us. She cannot walk long distances. Actually, she cannot really walk short distances either. Given that fact, I was wondering if public transportation is sufficient to see the sights, or should I reserve a rental car? Also, if you have any must see suggestions, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

from my experience in halifax... you do need a car around.. esp if you want to see peggys cove south of halifax... if are right downtown and want to see the harbor or museum.. you don't. so perhaps rent a car for at least 1-2 days, see the citadel and go see peggy's cove..
