The doctor really wants to treat and beat this cancer. He always tells my dad that everything is going to be alright. The chemo is responding really well.
My dad is back in the hospital. He has been complaining of pains. He is going to stay overnight in the hospital. They ran a bunch of tests on him. They found out that he is retaining water just outside his lungs. Most likely it is from the platelet shots that he is getting. Nothing to worry about. They are going to drain the water out of him tomorrow. He is now 211 lbs which is a 6 lb increase from 3 weeks ago. He has a big appettite. His blood pressure is good and he doesn't have a fever. The water is what is causing the pain.
I was just speaking to my dad and the doctors are about to do the procedure. It will take 5-10 mins. He will most likely stay in the hospital until friday. He got the CT scan report back and one of his lungs were half collapsed due to the water. The doctors are going to drain the water out of him by sticking a tube on the side of him into a bag . Once the water is out of him, his lung will open again. The water buildup is likely due from the chemo or the platelet shots. Nothing to worry about the doctors told him.

good luck, keep us posted. As scary and as serious as pancreatic cancer is, people are living longer and more active lives with it every day. It seems every year or more often even the treatments get better.
Just got back from the hospital. He is feeling much better than before. He just had a chest X-ray and his right lung is getting better. Half of his lunged collapsed, due to the fluid buildup. He had about a gallon of water in his body. He isn't experiencing anymore pain. The pain was due to the water buildup which was caused either by the chemo or the injections. His bloodwork came back great. He is now caughing a lot . His lung will expand once again when all the fluid is out.
My dad was gone within 10 months of diagnosis, his was terminal by the time they found it.
unfortunately this is too common. We have had friends that have died within weeks of the diagnones and others who have lived a year or longer. I have one friend who's husband lived about 15 months, until the last 2 weeks he did everything he wonted, including driving himself to chemo. This is like a couple other cancers, the systems are so slight at the beginning it is rarely diagnosed in time. But it is getting better and the treatments will continue to improve.

He is still in the hospital and will probably be until Sunday. The doctors already drained about 9 liters of fluid out of my dad. He doesn't any more pain and doesn't have a fever anymore. The pain was from the fluid buildup. He has been taking a lot of CT scans. His lung is coming back to life. The top part is 100 percent while the bottom part is still getting there. Most likely, he has ascites. The doctors still don't know what caused it. He was in the hospital 3 weeks ago for pains. They didn't say anything about fluid buildup last time. I think they missed it. The good thing is that his blood work came back good.
