Just about every person I talked to (my doctors) said this has a small chance of cancer. All I can do now is wait.
When do you get your results? Having to wait from Monday (day of biopsy) to tomorrow is making me nuts. I can’t eat. I can’t sleep. I’m trying to work, but not being even slightly effective at my job.

You made me feel better though. Thanks! I feel like I’m always the doom and gloom one. Since I live with Mr. Positive Pollyanna I think I feel like I need to interject some reality in hard situations.

They said my doctor would have them tomorrow. My biopsy was yesterday.

My SO always says "Everything will be fine" so I know where you're coming from! I have a hard time being positive, but I recognize that nothing is going to change the outcome and I have mounds of work that I need to get through right now so I'm really trying to concentrate (and only doing a halfway job of it).

I don't remember if it was here, but I am sure it was something I read online, that said 50/50 for microcalcifications. Only one place said that though. One of my doctors said TWO percent chance. Another said rarely. I mean, they could have been blowing sunshine, but I wasn't blubbering or anything so it's not like they were trying to calm me down.

There are no masses, there are no lumps. That's a good thing!

Yeah, I’m always suspicious about the blowing sunshine thing. I mean someone makes up the percent who have cancer so their assurances are wrong some percentage of the time.

My report did say no masses or lumps too. They didn’t use the word calcification. I’ve not been told I have calcifications prior, but maybe the area in question is a calcification forming (?).

Ugh, I wish my brain had an off switch.

Apparently I've had calcifications on the left since I started getting mammograms. I had no idea until 2 weeks ago.

Agreed, my life would be so much simpler if I could shut my brain off. It's why I have music on as much as possible!

Upthread I mentioned that the percentage of biopsied microcalcifications that turn out to be malignant is between 10-20%. I've read that on more than one of the BC educational websites (Susan B. Komen? Breast Cancer.org? Mayo? MD Anderson? Don't recall.). 50/50 is much too high. No matter what the numbers said, remember this important point: nothing can tell you whether YOU are going to end up in the 10% or the 90%. Nothing. And that's what really matters. Hard as it is, you have to wait. Reading too much about it won't help the time pass and will fuel your anxiety. Also remember that people with horror stories tend to write about them. People who don't have horror stories don't.

Let us know please OP!

Yes, I saw that number too. And I agree with you that you have no idea where you'll end up. Nerve wracking, isn't it? I promise I'll update either way

I wish you both all the best. I know the waiting is hard. If you need a huge community of supportive women, go to Breastcancer.org. They can help answer any questions you may have as well.

Just got the call. BENIGN! No cancer cells. They do want to do another mammogram in 6 months, but that’s standard after a biopsy.

Hoping the OP gets the same news.
