Sorry for your loss. Hope you got to say everything you needed. I never got to say everything because I was stuck on the turnpike and she passed before I got to her. God Bless.

Seems like everyone has some contact with Cancer.

My late wife died at age 43 in 1973 of Metestatic Carcinoma.

My mother died at age 80 with Brain Cancer.

My dad at age 86 died of Bladder/prostate Cancer with Renal failure.

Me...I had a Thyroidectomy (Cancer) removed in 2003...Cancer free and still kicking at age 78.

Steve

Getting old and senile have a tendency to forget some things.

Referring to my mothers passing, she had a double Mastectomy (Cancer) before the brain Cancer showed up.

Also my oldest daughter age 52 died last Sept from breast cancer that went into her liver...all in five months time from discovery.

Her mother went also in five months after being first diagnosed with Cancer.

Seems that Cancer runs in our family genes.

Hope the trend ends with me,

So far have not heard anything bad on my four granddaughters.

Thanx for listening...Steve

Oh my Steve. I am so sorry. The Dr.s do say cancer can run in certain family genes. Your losses are tragic. My heart goes out to you.

I think what this tread point out is we are all effected by cancer, and thus need keep up with the check ups and watch the indicators our body sends when a problem is in the making. We just need to be aware of the dangers, and take fast action.

Thank you everyone for sharing.

Marilyn, I'm relieved to hear your mom is not suffering any more. Please give your dad my condolences.

Steve, check out my tips post, look at the last post I made yesterday about genetic testing.

The hard part of benzene exposure is it stores in the body fats like a time bomb, and as with so many non polar molecules has the ability to do so much more harm than just leukemia.
He was diagnosed in 2005. By the time he passed in 2006, there were lots of new things. I hope that if I do get diagnosed with it that advances have been made & I don't have to suffer like he did.

He did a few clinical trials which could probably be beneficial to me if I do get diagnosed.

We didn't know back then when we were spraying our hands in all those cleaners.

I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 27 years old. Was up to that time healthy and rarely sick. 3 surgeries and 9 weeks of chemo.

Now I take time to talk to those who are diagnosed with cancer, champion the cause of survivorship. There hope against the disease and my effort is to prevent those from getting this disease, encourage those who are facing the disease to cope, thrive, and beat the disease.

I am 57 years old and being treated for Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, one of the more aggressive forms of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I am receiving double chemotherapy, one administered intravenously, the other through the spinal cord. For each of the chemos, I have one treatment left. My most recent scan shows no evidence of the disease.

In mid-September, I start radiation therapy which should run through mid-October. I expect to be pronounced "In Remission" at that time and will begin cancer rehab (my own design) in early November and am looking for some kind of an athletic event in 2010 to enjoy a "victory lap" over cancer!
