I just had the Mohs procedure done 2 weeks ago on my lip area for a basal cell carcinoma that was fast growing. So far, everything is healing up fine. The intense itching part of healing is not fun, but that comes and goes. The worst part of the surgery was the cut on the lip down into the corner, ouch, a very tender part to have cut and stitched. Stitches came out fine a week ago, but there is still alot of redness of my skin where the stitches were. I understand this is normal and that it will take about one month for the whole area to look more normal and a total of three months for the healing to be complete. I was told it heals from the inside out. Anyone else had Mohs done? What was your experience of the surgery and healing process like?

I had Mohs for Basal Cell four months ago. It was in the neck area and turned out well. Never had any discomfort, even itching. Healed well and the scar is barely visible. For the first time in my life I'm using sunscreen on a regular basis to prevent any further skin cancer. Had a really great surgeon who was actually an associate of Dr Moh when the procedure was first developed. Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me msgsing. This healing processes is going to take sometime and it is definitely uncomfortable. It tingles sometimes because the nerves are healing, it itches sometimes because it's healing, but the most uncomfortable part is I still can't open my mouth wide enough to eat comfortably yet, it's frustrating. I'm glad in a couple of months, it will be better.
