Any time I am scratched or bitten, I immediately put hydrogen peroxide on the wound. It works! Even if a cut becomes in infected, it will work if the injury is opened up enough to let the H2O2 in. But that sounds like a more serious injury...a doctor visit might be a good idea.

Best of luck, MK. I'll be checking back frequently.

We're back home!!

Twix is behind me eating, lil' moo's on my lap, and Cinders is laying in the window unsidedown like it's another day in paradise.

I got off of work around 11am, raced home to scoop her up for her 11:30 app. They put her to sleep and began working on her immediately. The poor thing sounded like a scratched record in the car, meows aren't supposed to sound like that!

They told me to come back and pick her up around 4pm. *sigh*

The colon-flushing worked. He got a knot out the size of a baseball. Rehydrated her, and shoved an enema in there for luck. She's still groggy, you can tell by the sideways-walking, and jumping at things reaction. So after much cuddling, I'm leaving her alone in here with me to chill out a bit.
It must have been much worse than I thought - it looks like she's lost almost 10 pounds! I suppose the bath to her rear-end that he gave her contributes to most of that.

I soaked my finger in Betadine and ice water. It feels much better. If it continues to bother me, I do have health insurancem I will go have it looked at.

In the meantime, he said to be prepared for quite a few nasty-poos while her body sorts itself back out. And that if she blocks up again, we can begin talking about mega-colon medication, and other preventative options along those lines.

Default Pink for Hope

Really hoping all works out well. Thank God Twix did not rupture! A blockage the size of a baseball, oh my! Twix is seriously working on one of his 9 lives!

Let's all breath a sigh of relief and make sure you attend to your finger. I agree with catman......hydrogen peroxide is excellent to clean out your wound. And don't forget Neosporin.....

Oh, I'm so relieved! Did Doc say what it was that had blocked her? Fur, maybe? I would start supplementing her diet with some coconut oil (virgin, unrefined)...they seem to like the flavor, and it'll help keep things lubed-up so she can pass everything more easily.

RE: Hydrogen peroxide...GREAT for cleaning initially, but it actually slows the healing process, so it's better to stick to neosporin after the area is cleaned.

Okay, now that I know Twix is okay I can get off this computer and do the "happy dance"...yay!!!

OMG that is bad.. whew!

I agree MK, take care of that finger. One day I was sitting in the morning meeting at work and we were going over all the inpatients and just like someone else in this thread had mentioned, one of our patients was in the hospital over something just like yours.

Hugs to you and Twix..poor little furbaby...
