hi all,

i have 2 male neutered cats who hadbeen having territorial issues for the past few months. we decided to try out feliway as being our only option. it has worked wonders as our older cat is much more peaceful and loving to our younger cat.

the reason i am posting is because i was wondering if there was anyone else out there who has used feliway and has used a home candle at the same time.

i love lighting a candle in one room of my house and the whole house has a nice scent to it. but will this throw off the pheremones in the feliway? if it does, i do not want to risk it not working as well as waste my $50.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

Sorry I can't help with the Feliway but let me warn you about cats and candles. More than a few fires have been started by cats accidentally knocking them over. Make sure it's in a place they can't reach.

I agree with caution about the candles. In addition to the danger, those kinds of scents can really bother cats, so I would recommend against using candles or any other kind of air "freshener" either.

I can't answer whether burning a candle will interfere with the feliway diffuser, but I will add that I LOVE feliway diffusers.

I use them in times when there may be stress for my cats, such as medical procedures for a cat that requires anesthesia, company, if I am going to be away for long hours, newbie introductions....anything that might cause them stress, I plug it in a few days before the stressor happens and leave it going during and for a few days after.

I'm glad you are having success with it too.

PS Feliway is much less expensive at places like Amazon.com.

I didn't notice any conflicts with the feliway and scents when we burn candles. The only side effect we ever had with the cats was that if we placed them on a table that they loved to jump up on, that someone would inadvertently burn a whisker. But, we put the candles up in different areas and never had any issues after that. They kept their distance regardless of if they had been a foster with us for a long time or short time. I think the long timers were telling the short timers to stay away.

thanks for all the opinions so far! when we do burn candles we also put them up high because our cats do become curious but we are always very cautious as to where and when we burn our candles.

the feliway has worked wonders and i am so glad this product is around for our use.

also, thank you for the amazon suggestion. any ways to help save money, i'm there.

THANKS EVERYONE!
