Another resurrected old thread. I'd say feel free to offer tips and tricks for kittens w/ fleas but don't expect responses or be trying to give specific advice to the original poster...they are probably long gone or the situation long since resolved (I hope!)

EDIT: Here's an odd one: Move to Colorado. For some reason the cat fleas just don't do well here, something to do with the very dry climate and high altitude. We only have a few specific species of flea that live here naturally, and they tend to stick to wild critters, usually rodents. They are unfortunately the type that carry plague, but they don't seem to cause mass household infestations like I remember seeing in VA or OH.

Since the OP last posted in 2008, I should hope by now the kitten who would now be a cat, doesn't have fleas anymore.

I'll just add that we've defleaed baby animals (squirrels too) by placing a paper towel saturated with alcohol next to us, then combing out the fleas and immediately scraping them onto the alcohol. It kills them and nothing toxic touches the baby.

We've combed them out of a kitten and had a small dish of water with Dawn dish soap in it. I'd dip the comb into the water and drown the fleas there.
