She was speaking of teaching the cat to literally use the toilet...not litter boxs So, why this is all helpful information, it does not pertain to her question.
I have many friends with cats that have not been able to train them to use the toilet. I have offered the next best alternative. I would love to hear your experience with training cats to use the toilet as I would certainly love to get rid of the cat boxes. How do I start?

I'm in your boat....have known many who have tried, yet never succeeded. We had one who trained herself...had nothing to do with my training it, just took upon herself to use the commode. It does have its pitfalls...as there is always "something" in the toilet...not the best of situations when guests come over
Well, the catbox is next to the toilet now. Next step is to slowly raise it so Henry (the cat) eventually has to jump on the toilet seat to access it. Then, I plan on putting it over the seat. Then putting a mixing bowl with cat litter inside the toilet that the cat can use, slowly eliminating the litter and eventually replacing it with water. Then remove it entirely and, presto-chango! Henry is toilet trained. I think it would do well to stake-out the bathroom on the final day to help with footing and reward Henry with the final task. Oh, the indignities we endure for our pets! This is all theory. The mixing bowl should start in about a week. I'll let you know.
Not all cats dislike water. Mine would be impossible to train to go in the toilet because if we leave the seat up he will drop his toys in the toilet. He also drops his toys in his water dish and only drinks water out of the sink/tub. He will get in the tub, put his head under running water, and has little fear of water unless its really blasting him. Here is one of him as a kitten jumping in the tub.
Not sure about the tub scene, but the sink pic looks like he just nearly missed being caught using your toothbrush. Whew! That was close. As for our cat's training, should be any day now. Stand by...
OOPS, Cat's box is even with the toilet, ready to transfer over. However, he knocked it off and used the bathmat instead. Almost had to move due to the inhalation hazard. Anyway, I set him in his box and petted him for awhile. Back to normal with slight setback. Almost time to try again. Wish me luck. Thanks for all the comments and advise so far.
