I think you've found yourself a keeper! And, legend has it that its good luck if a cat finds you, like this one did.
A Maine Coon has fur between their pads and tufts of hair sticking out their ears. Their tale should be of the same lenght as their body. Also they make a chirp like sound.

Read more about them here
Maine Coon Standard (http://www.acfacat.com/maine_coon_standard.htm - broken link)

I do think that this kitten is a DLH though. It could maybe be a mix of some other breed. It's cute as a button anyways.

Definitely NOT a Maine Coon...not one single characteristic of a MC. It is a cutie for sure, but not a specific breed.

I do not want another maine coon, they are too much work. I have seen one other cat that looks like this. My godparents had this kind of cat and it turned out to be a very large cat, bigger then a small dog, gray, long ears, long hair, loves rolling in leaves.

His eyes are changing blue and his fur is turning more brown.

rescues can be some of the sweetest and most loyal and loving pets ever..... they seem to sense they have been given a 2nd chance at life.......

this kitty knows your wife saved his (her?) life......

the vet may be able to give you some idea of its eventual size........

Awwwww,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Maine Coons aren't that much work! I groom my MC about 1-2 times a week, he takes care of himself.

Regardless of whether he's a MC or just a long hair, he's a cutie, I'll bet you're in love with him now! Lucky kitty!

All cats are born with blue eyes. They change with age...probably 10 weeks or so

The little black kitty is so cute! I know what you mean about the strays in Phoenix. When I lived in AZ, there were so many strays that I fed. some I found homes for. One I actually was able to locate the owner. One of my kitties was found by my neighbor who said a dog was chasing him. I just could not have another cat. The next morning, Piggie had his own water and food bowls and a new litter box. He is the funniest cat I have ever had.
