Not really, since it's an optional feature on both carriers. I could remove it from either carrier to save $30, so the difference remains under $10.

I have three lines, all with unlimited data, text and we never go over our minutes. All for a little over $100 (with 25% employeer discounts)
This is interesting. Are you on a grandfathered plan? I just priced out three EVOs and it came to $180 / mo:

$129.99 - First two lines @ 1500 minutes
$00.00 - Unlimited messaging
$00.00 - Unlimited smartphone data
$19.99 - Line #3
$00.00 - Unlimited messaging for line #3
$00.00 - Unlimited smartphone data for line #3
$10.00 - 4G surcharge for line #1
$10.00 - 4G surcharge for line #2
$10.00 - 4G surcharge for line #3
$179.98 - Total for three smartphones on Sprint's 1500 minute family plan

That's about $30 - $40 / month cheaper than Verizon or AT&T, but even with a 25% discount, that's still about $135.

I think at this point I'd probably jump ship to Virgin Mobile. Sure, it's a gamble on the network (since it's only Sprint-native coverage), but given the low cost of service, reasonable equipment prices, and lack of a contract, at worst it would be a wash.

I'd miss my 4G, but for that price, I could probably live with it.
