A few days (IIRC) after this thread started, I noticed a new (to me at least) structure re the Verizon pre-paid plans, obviously aimed at generating loyalty.

For the 5GB plan, the first month is $40, the second and third months are $35 a month, the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth months are $30 a month, and the tenth month and after that...$25 a month (+ taxes/fees in each case).

I ordered an unlocked 2020 iPhone SE (already planned before noticing this change re Verizon) and received it on 9/23. I moved my AT&T prepaid $2.00 per day plan from a cheap ZTE to this new iPhone, and I love the phone. I also have one of the grandfathered 3G Verizon plans that someone mentioned in this thread, and my 'yearly expiration date' on that plan is in December, but is a few weeks before Verizon turns off 3G on 12/31/20.

The 2020 iPhone SE has the two line capability with an e-sim.

Verizon doesn't do e-sim with their pre-paid plans, but AT&T does. I've already spoken with both, so all I need to do is have AT&T move my AT&T# to the e-sim on the iPhone from the nano sim, and then have Verizon move my about to expire/grandfathered 3G Verizon# to their 5G pre-paid plan on a nano sim. I have a credit balance (they 'owe' me) of over $400, so with this new 'loyalty encouraging structure' on their pre-paid smart phone plans, I'll be able to essentially squeeze another month of service from that balance than I would have been able to with their previous structure. When that credit balance runs out, I'll decide to either keep that plan, or move that number over to AT&T for another $100 for a year of service (with '$2 day unlimited'...deducted for each day (24hrs after the first call) of use...on average, I don't burn through the 50 days each year).

I have unlimited data on my 3rd Gen iPad Pro for $35 a month with AT&T on their 'Sessions' plan (managing the account online), so I don't absolutely need to have data on my phone (but by November 2021, after having data on the new iPhone for almost a year to burn off my credit balance, I may feel differently ).
