I have got to say, all this talk of the haughty attitude of Mt pleasant is laughable. To me it seems nothing more than a community of people who found a nice safe place to live and want to keep it that way. If you really want to experience a dose of real snobbery try Scarsdale, Greenwich Ct or Beverly Hills on for size and suddenly Mt. Pleasant will seem like Mayberry RFD....

A lack of snootiness was one of the things that attracted me to this area.
Parts of Florida, for instance, are much different in this regard.
Flashiness seems not to be cool here. I rarely see any.

I ended up choosing Mt P (6 months in) and I continue to see it that way.

I'm a snob about living within my means. I admit it -- I am proud, feel a tad superior (yes said with a sense of humor), because we don't have a car loan, credit debt and our mortgage is much less than what our house is worth.

So -- I guess I have to admit it -- guilty of being a snob. <G>

That's not being a snob, it's just plain smart.
