Ok..my gf and I are trying to decide between Atlanta and Charleston...We will be visiting Charleston to scout it out in early October and I am really wanting Charleston. Of course there are several areas we should check out to help influence her to choose Charleston. From a native's perspective, where should I take her or what should she see/experience that would make an impact on her to choose Charleston?? Thanks for your help!!

What does she like to do? That will help give some ideas. Does she like the beach and water activities?

That's hard to answer w/out knowing you and your gf, your ages, your lifestyle, etc. Generically, I'd say a carriage tour of downtown, a meal at any one of our great restaurants that serves local seafood, a visit to the beaches; if you're the laid back, groovy type, go to Folly Beach; otherwise the beaches at Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms are great.

Give us some more details, and I'm sure you'll get lots of feedback!

We are a couple in our late 30's...She loves the beach...enjoys relaxing, laid back
atmospheres...really likes the large gardens..likes
Farmers Markets with lots of fresh fruit and produce..
I know that Charleston has all of the above...I was thinking
visit the Farmers Market on Saturday morning then
hitting one of the beaches afterwards...where should
we park to visit the Farmers Market??

Really....its a love affair. She will love Charleston.....or she won't. The beaches, woods, active music and nightlife scene, history, southern charm, great weather, kayaking, paddle boarding, kiteboarding, boating, foodies, dolphins, fishing, etc, etc, will mean nothing if she doesn't fall in love with the place.

Best of luck. (hint) I've heard that the more love you give, the more you get

You can always surprise her with the fact that ice cubes freeze clear here....that should tip it in

We usually park in King Street north of Calhoun (bring quarters).
