Do people sod or seed their yards there? What kind is most popular?

This spring I resod my yard with St. Augustine and love it, it does really well in my partially shaded backyard.

Sod is easier and looks better but costs more. I say sod plus have a sprinkler system.

Does anyone know what a pallet of sod costs and how many square feet it is?

Depends on the type of sod.

Rough guesstimate is about $200 per pallet and a pallet covers about 400-500sq ft. This is delivered to your site. No prep nor laying it included.

One side of my house I tilled and raked out then sodded. The other side I just cut what was there short and laid the sod with no tilling. Bottom line was no different looking. I say cut, water, lay the sod over, water, water, water. Water it daily for the first two weeks.

I do suggest soil testing and do what is needed (chemicals) before sodding.

Hope this helps.

I killed my existing sod with roundup and sod cutter and laid 3 pallets of zoisa cavalier in my front yard. Pristine after one year. Neighbors are jealous. I hired some help from Craigslist for 10 an hour. Best help ever.
