Had O-Ku for the first time last Saturday night. It was pretty good, considering there's a massive shortage of edible sushi in the Charleston Metro. It's not as good as Kanpai in Mt. P (Chef Park, the guy that basically put O-Ku on the map started his own sushi joint), but it's definitely up there. Service was great, atmosphere was a little kitschy, in a trying too hard to be hip sort of way, food was delicious, even if they were trying way too hard. Overall one of the better places on King St.
We go to O-Ku for Happy Hour-- half price rolls -- discounted drinks. That's how hip I am.....
Finally managed to wait the line at Hominy Grill. Tasty place and def will go back again.
Also went to Edmund's Oast the other day. Fine establishment as well, with good outdoor seating, esp as the quick summer storms temporarily bring cool relief.
Lewis BBQ ... smoked brisket heaven in a modern, light & airy place. Wish I could walk there. Just comfortable, with my favorite food -- anything smoked!
Do they share space with the Home Team BBQ at that location ? Do they only do Texas-style Beef Brisket there ??
I'm a fan of Pork BBQ.......Pig Hip, Pig Leg, Pig Rib, Pig Shoulder, Pig Loin. I draw the line at the Snout and the Ears.
My wife loves Beef Brisket. She says the best so far has been at the Rutledge Cab Co.
They had a good turnout Sunday, we drove by on our way into town. All proceeds went to the Union Baptist Church.
Lewis & Home Team are NOT affiliated. Funny how they're located, huh?
John Lewis is renowned in the Texas style BBQ world -- brisket is his thing. But they do have pork & homemade sausage. Take your wife to Lewis' place and neither one of you will remember Rutledge's beef!
I figure Home Team will benefit from the overflow trying to get into Lewis
Lewis and Home Team serve totally different purposes. Hometeam is much more of a bar/hanging out type of place whereas Lewis is pretty much just about the bbq.
Also Leyla is the best restaurant in downtown Charleston. If you haven't been you should skip the cookie cutter southern modern rustic farm to table tourist bs and go there

After eating the baba ganoush at Leyla, we asked for an order to take home. The best!
