This so called "Laurel Island" (never heard it called that before) has been in the plans for years. The Beach Company proposed this development back in the 80's or 90's. So maybe now it's proposed by another development company.
Would be nice to see, but it'll take years to come to life.
The Beach Company sold it to another guy who went belly up with the big crash.
A neighbor posted in our Nextdoor.com forum that Charleston City Council members will be discussing the proposed aquatic center near Citadel Mall next week. The meeting is May 24th at 3:15 at Bishop Gadsden on Camp Road, James Island. The post said the meeting is primarily for City Council and staff, but it is open to the public. Hopefully, we'll know more about whether this aquatic center will go forward next week. I'm for anything going up at Citadel mall, as long as it's not a title loan business or another gas station.
Also, I was told by another neighbor that the old Piggly Wiggly site on Highway 61 (61 and Parsonage Road) will be a Sonic. Has anyone heard this?
Yes^^ the area is very important but was saying let em build for the "people" thats going to come out and complain and try to stop it by comming up with some excuse about the environment or these trees are history. Trust me, its going to be alot of them
Did you actually read the article? They have Dana Beach on board.
As you know around here they are not the only groups or people that might speak up
Agree, but Dana Beach has a pretty strong voice in environmental issues.
