"we are looking for is nice homes, good schools, nice stores and restaurants."

This really says Mt Pleasant. That's where you can find all of this. Closer into town would work well if your office was downtown. That way the single guys could live in Charleston or anywhere nearby that they choose. BTW, young, single guys will love it down here... Employee retention should be easy!

Only real comparisons we are looking for is nice homes, good schools, nice stores and restaurants. Charleston is appealing because of the beautiful and historic city, the weather, and the water/beaches (many of us sail.)

Thanks again to everyone for their input.
OK ... got it ..while I wouldn't .dismiss downtown ... close in Mount Pleasant ...the Old Village and I'On areas will give you a close to downtown Greenwich or Westport feel ... Daniel island would be more like New Canaan...

One thing that will be different is that you wont get the acreage usually seen in those FFC towns ... unless you go way out from the city into the countryside... the 2 , 5 , and larger acreage zoning just doesn't exist... there are areas with 1 acre sites but they will be horribly expensive east of the Cooper River.

Ill be happy to go into more detail if you wish, PM me with any specific questions you may have ... a number of folks from FFC that I know here ... are all overjoyed with their moves ...could kick themselves for not doing it earlier.

I know a Nordstrom Rack is coming but there is no Macys, Neimans, Nordstroms, etc. Belk is not in the same league as those departmeent stores.

Department stores have rankings -- the A store is the best store. The Belk store has improved but I'm sure it still isn't the same ranking as the Belk Store at Lenox in Atlanta.
