Just because it isn't what you want to hear doesn't make it doom and gloom. I'm merely sharing the information because some people may not know how to access it and/or interpret the data. People like you are the ones that cost people lives. Nobody dies because they over prepare. They die because they under prepare when people like you think it's some right of passage that grows hair on your balls to try to beat mother nature and you have to be boastful about it.
How many hurricanes have you been part of in SC? Storms that ride the coast rarely live up to their hype. Your post about IoP being underwater is pure alarmist BS.

It is not alarmist. It is a REAL possibility. That doesnt mean it WILL happen but to pretend it is not a REAL possibility is wrong. Storms wobble and do crazy things. Hell, Dorian just got done parking on the Bahamas for a day and a half. Nobody called for that either. The truth is that nobody knows but many things including major flooding are possible.

All of IoP being underwater is pure alarmist.

Isn’t IoP like 2 feet above sea level? When I was there last year there were beach front houses with waves washing under them during high tide. And that was on a normal sunny day...

I love the island, so hope for the best. I have a trip booked for early October.

Some people dont know what they are talking about. Flooding is a very real risk.

Hugo had an 8 foot storm surge and didn't put IoP under water. Flooding? Yes. Under water? No.

And, per usual, it's you. Could parts of IoP flood? Absolutely. Will IoP be underwater? Extremely doubtful.

Flooding that happens in IoP and Sullivans is so far as I know always due to rain, I'm not aware of the ocean ever breaching the dunes in any storm, much less a cat 2 one off shore. But if that's happened I'd love to know about it.

I remember driving through SI back in 10/15 after the rain event and it was moderate in some areas and non existent in others, and that was a storm that dumped a lot more rain than this one will. https://www.weather.gov/chs/HistoricFlooding-Oct2015

So yeah, water will pool in known spots.

Hugo had a 20 foot surge, but as far as I know it didn't completely cover the island.

The funny thing is that whilst everyone has been closed for three days, R Kitchen is still open tonight for my bday dinner.

Thank god there are still non hysterical people left around here.

I can't give you more rep.

When the Waffle House closes, things just got real.
