Isle of Palms is where we usually go. The beach is very nice, they have a playground on the beach for children and the drive isn't too bad. There is a web site for IOP and other area beaches. Not sure of the web address but you can google it and check them out.

Folly - typically considered the beach for teenagers (& people who want to drink/party on the beach). Has a state park on one end of it that lots of families will go to.
