We're considering a move from Westchester County NY. Price range anything up to a million. Husband can work anywhere. We're looking for a good neighborhood for our 9 and 6 year old. Would like to be near a good Christian/Catholic school. Would prefer a half acre or more (we want neighbors, just not on top of us). Thanks.

If you're serious about one million, you'll want Myers Park or Dilworth. Close proximity to Saint Peter's (uptown) and St. Patrick's (Dilworth) Catholic Churches. Or along Sharon Road or Sharon lane, very close to St. Gabriel's. Look up Morrocroft.

I was going to say Dilworth too, but you won't get a half acre there for a million bucks.
I agree with South Park close to St. Gabe's (that is technically South Park, right?)

Plenty of choices and property size in Northwestern Union County with good access to the private schools.

P.S. You can spend much less.

Coming from Westchester, the OP might be looking for something in an older, more established area than Union County. The houses along Sharon Road look like they're on football fields. Queens Road West and the streets that run off it are on large lots as well. eastover is another part of town that might fit the bill.

Lily, St. Gabe's is really on the border of Cotswold and hmm...Myers Park I guess. Well, maybe you're right about Southpark. The mall is really close to it. I recently had to take my daughter to a swim meet that required me to make a left on Providence (heading north) on to Sharon Lane (at St. gabe's). Holy guacamole. I hadn't been down there in a few years. If I had a million dollars to spend in Charlotte, that's where you'd find me. Secluded but in the heart of everything. It actually felt like something you'd see in Westchester.

I second the St. Gabe's area. Those houses on and off of Wendover have huge lots and are lovely!

Longview Country Club would be about 15 minutes from St. Matthews in Ballantyne.

Where in Westchester are you moving from? Does it have to be in Charlotte or would you be interested in somewhere arounf Lake Norman?

I would also recommend taking a look at the Lake Norman/Davidson/Mooresville area. You can have a lovely home on
quite a large lot with reasonable proximity to schools, both Catholic and Christian. There are also country club communities available or not and there is lake access or not. Plenty of options!!

I know Westchester Cty in NY, wondering what parish they are coming from. There is St. Mark's Catholic Church & School over on Stumptown Rd. in Huntersville, grades K-8. Christ the King HS is slated to open in the same location come this fall. By the time their kids are ready for high school, it will be ready for them. Lots of lovely homes in that area that might fit what they're looking for.
