What you are saying in reality is that you feel that Italians, Chinese, Koreans, Irish, blacks, Muslims, Jews, and Hispanics are "narrow minded and need to get out more" since they live in areas that consist of their own cultures. I don't believe that it is these people that need to get out more. It is just hard to think that all of these people are ignorant according to your rationale.
Do you think that the Danes, Swedes, Finns, Norse, Irish, are also narrow minded for living in countries that are not diverse?
People are free to live with whomever the feel comfortable. It has always been this way. Humanity, in most cases, is free to diversify if they choose. It had to do with survival and support. I personally think that people that don't understand this simple, no-brainer concept are ignorant themselves. People have the right to be happy doing what they want and living where they want as long as it doesn't harm others and isn't against the law. And they should be able to do this without being judged. Pretty simple.
Additionally, I want to live where my family and I will be safe to walk around without worrying about thugs, drunks, or slobs. If I check crime reports and other demographics and I end up in an area that is void of a certain ethnic group(s) and puts me in the category as being "ignorant" , I couldn't care less. I live in a small neighborhood with people from Cuba, India, Greece, Equador, China, and Vietnam. We all feel the same. We are happy with our level of diversity, but we would also be happy if it were safe without diversity. If I have an uncontrollable urge for diversity, I will go to the mall.
I am pretty certain that my feelings are not different than those of people of any race. I am over 40 and we tend to become more realistic after that magic number.
Most people reside in areas they can afford (since 2008 anyways)...I am over 40 and approve this message.

So, most whites own everything through ingeritance. Interesting, yet funny. A degree doesn't always get you in the door. But, it puts minorities in the front of the line in many places if they have one. When I was a teacher, it was extremely difficult to hire blacks as a degree got them a easily attained higher paying positions.
Degrees in social work and sociology don't get anyone high paying jobs. If you actually have an engineering degree, you are part of the one percent of degree holding blacks with one. Congrats. on that.
Reality, a person doing the hiring is looking for success. If it is sales, he/she wants someone that is going to appeal to the customer and has the personality and charm required. This applies to all other jobs. A boss wants to look good and can only do that if he hires good people. I am sure that most white (or any other race) bosses practice this for their own survival. This would put other important attributes above race. However, the government doesn't operate under this concept.
I think affirmative action is on it's way out. Money is the only color that matters now and even the racist of racist will hire someone they don't like if they can make money.
