You may understand what you said but no one else does.

Yes, I can see where repeating exactly what you said is twisting your words. So you DIDN'T say that I have to have business to be in your neighborhood and that I would be forcibly removed via an escort. You also didn't wager my bippie. Whew, that is a relief because I am kind of attached to it. Glad that is all cleared up.

The question remains the same...

why should I be worried about getting approached by an armed resident for walking in their neighborhood?

That would be a crime in itself wouldn't it?

I had an uncle who was jogging in a nice neighborhood and a resident threaten him with violence if he didn't leave. Fist were thrown and when they went to court you should have seen the look on the guys face when he found out my uncle was a lawyer.

Cool story. Good for your uncle and I hope the resident got what he deserved.

Boy this thread went to hell in a hand basket. Pissing match per usual.

I've enjoyed reading it though. I almost have to laugh at empty threats of people who would try "escorting" someone else out of a neighborhood for not having "business" in the neighborhood. At the same time, I like the proactive stance people take to keep the neighborhood clean. It is a pretty cut and dry line with what can and can't be done. Call neighbors, look up license plate tags, do background searches, spy with binoculars all you want...but when someone goes to someone else and tries "escorting" them out of a neighborhood for no reason other than "I don't like them here", then it's on like donkey kong (oh yeah...i said donkey kong).

What exactly is a suspicious car? Just because there is a car that you don't know parked on a public street doesn't make it suspicious.

FTA: "I'm not afraid to ask someone if they live here,"

Again, she may be free to ask me but I am free to tell her to go screw if I am on a public street.

FTA: After the grannies saw a person sitting in his car near the pool and not getting out...they passed the license plate to the police

This is fine.

FTA: ...has a pool, picnic tables and private 17-acre park.

I don't know enough from the article to say anything about the park or pool policing.
You seem a "tad" confrontational. Is that the Yankee in you coming out? Seriously, I can't, for the life of me figure out why this bothers you so much. Lighten up, Francis.

It bothers me when someone tells me they will "escort" me from their neighborhood if I don't have "business" there. I also don't like being questioned.

Admittedly, I am a bit of a hothead so you got me there.

I'm sure if you sat down, and thought rationally about it, you'd appreciate the effort they're putting in. I dont know about you, but I've had my home broken in to, my things gone through, and my possessions taken by pieces of human excrement that I would LOVE to do bodily harm to. I wish any of the residents of the 15 houses immediately adjacent to mine had had the intestinal fortitude to ask the pieces of **** that broke in to my house if they lived in the neighborhood. Did they? No, they all stayed in their homes, with their heads buried in the sand, hoping it never happened to them. Sad, I say.

So, granny asks you if you live in the subdivision. Rather than say "Hey, I dont live here, but Im visiting Joe Smith", you'd rather tell them "where to stick their knitting needles". Sir, is this the way you'd want someone speaking to your mother/grandmother?
