Has anyone been to Jets who knows Chicago deep dish pizza and can compare the two for me? I read somewhere that the Jets owners are from Michigan and would be familiar with deep dish.
You mean like Giordano's pizza? No comparison, Jets doesn't do that style.
But I did have their pizza a lot in MI and really liked them.
I highly recommend their deep dish...there's no crust, the edge is slightly burned crispy cheese goodness. If you get a large, get the '8 corner' pizza which is essentially 2 smalls so you get more of the crispy edge. Just don't go in expecting Chicago style or any other style and you'll probably enjoy it for whatever it is.
didn't want to 'hijack' ur thread, but kind of like you said, I'm not all about the 'free' slice. in fact, I usually feel bad with offers like this, or using coupons at places I go to often. a good example is my local pub offered a restaurant.com coupon, which I never used. in my opinion, the coupon is meant to attract NEW customers, I'd feel bad showing up, eating a full meal, then pulling this coupon out.
don't get me wrong, I'm not against coupons, like I'll use coupons at the supermarket if I can or for buying a tv or something. but to go to this pizza place, a local small business, JUST for a free slice? to me it seems like I'm contributing to a non-profitable day for the pizza place. I'd personally feel better just giving them the $2 or so for the slice.
nothing wrong with using a coupon or going to a place to get something free. You can always tip heavy... servers like tips.
we had their pizza in Michigan and it was very good, I know families that ever only ordered at Jets, we tend to like mixing up where we order it form so the overall flavor isn't the same
Had my first pizza from there tonight. It was pretty good, the deep dish had a lot of buttery crust and the turbo cheese sticks were good too.
Their website kind of sucks though. The address for the Matthews location is listed as Charlotte so the online system said I am out of the delivery area.

I thought there was a Matthews location. I don't see one on their website.

Jet's isn't Chicago-style, it's Detroit-style pizza (although I didn't know that Detroit had a style of pizza before moving out of Michigan -- its was just the kind of pizza everyone made there). It's probably most comparable with a Sicilian-style.
I miss Jets. Hope some open near me in the Triangle soon.
