Just curious forevaNYka - I read yesterday that you no longer live in NC. Why do you continue to read this forum?

We'd like to be "close" to stuff (parks, dining, shopping etc...) walkable/bike ride to some would be great! I've heard from some that South Charlotte can be a little uptight?? North area I feel like I'd be missing out on what's in the South?? We are "downsizing" our lives and would like to live in a modest area that has a safe and family friendly feel. Our price point is up to 300k only because we want to make sure location is solid and it seems like you have to spend a bit more to get into a good neighborhood.
Schools #1, location #2

Any specific neighborhood suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
I would be happy to send you a direct message

What does "Uptight" mean in regards to the people of south Charlotte? Is it possible to put a label on a part of a city for having better students, more educated population, and pays more taxes? I am pretty sure that there are some uptight people with the loose ones.

Sounds like a big waste of time, C-D is plenty enough to get relevant info about anywhere. Hint: you can't convince people they won't like living here because you didn't or prefer New Yawk, never can quite understand that mentality...get a life.

As others have mentioned, I recommend the South Charlotte area.

One more thing if I may.. I wish someone warned me before we spent a ton of money buying new construction in a cookie cutter neighborhood only to find schools, culture, etc ...were no where on par with what we had grown up with. My gosh I almost died when I took car thru some animal experience kind of place in Mooresville...that was one of the highlights in our three years there. You can only visit The Biltmore and commercial Myrtle so often.

Very vanilla and plain but BIG if that's what you're into good for you....myself not so much

Just want to set something straight about going to beaches from Charlotte . . . the natives head to Charleston or Savannah. In fact, a lot of folks in Charlotte own second homes or condos in one of those two areas. If one is inclined to head towards Myrtle, the end location would then be Pawley's Island, Litchfield and/or Georgetown. Just sayin' . . .

It is funny to me and apparant to others that you are wasting time on this messager board while being surrounded by such obvious greatness in the place where you now live. In reality, could your presence on this board be an outcry due to the fact that you might have just been stupid by moving into a "cookie cutter neigborhood" when here without looking into facts, demographics, schools, etc.? Really, what smart person does that? What is your real reason for your hostility towards the area. I understand that people have their legitimate reasons, but your comments are not really very applicable to average reasonable newcomer.

The "Animal kind of place" for which you alude, is basically a privately owned petting zoo. With all kindness intended, I am really glad that you moved back to your original home. It is people like you that misrepresent the good people from the north. Best wishes and I hope that you actually find a way to get involved in a hobby or other activity so you can enjoy life there and stop having to resort to a message board in another state for entertainment. Best wishes.

When you refer to the city as "very vanilla", I can only assume that you are racist and don't like caucasians. In that case, I can only hope you never return. But, that is only my opinion.
