Does NC require you to take a road test to get a NC license if you already have a license from another state? What are the requirements to get a license? I went on the DMV site but it's unclear.

From the handbook
NCDOT: Getting a License or Learner Permit, Steps

If you cant handle any of the tests then I question your desire to drive on NC roads.
The road test is simple and it up to discretion of the officer.

And all states require pretty much the same thing . . . so I don't see how this is some big problem unique to NC.

If you do not have your out-of-state license, they demand you take a road test. So, make sure you bring it.

wait, time out...although the OP can search this site for more info, he/she asked if u have to take a ROAD test to get ur out of state license converted to an NC license. I'm no expert, but I did have to take a WRITTEN test when I moved here, not a ROAD test. other than that, what everyone else already said.

The only way you have to take a road test is if you misplace your out of state drivers license. If you have your drivers license from another state, you have to take the written test (I believe can't get more than 4 wrong) and sign test. This was coming out of the state of PA to NC.

And exactly where in my post did it say I can't handle any of the tests? I question whether you can read.
