We have bought a house in Wingate. It was a bank repo so are going to start working on it around the 1st of November. Hopefully will can get moved around the first of the year or spring time. Just depends on a few things.

I am a nurse looking for a job. Any suggestions?

Husband is retired, builds custom cars, looking to build a rather large garge on our property. Any car people out there?

Also need to know about building permits, garbage collection, etc. Know that it is Union County but their web site is very confusing.

I know alot of questions.................but just excited about being out of California, tired of the gang violence, looking to just relax a bit..........

As a nurse you shouldn't have any trouble finding a job in the medical field in Monroe (4 miles) or Matthews (20 miles).

A large and active custom car club called the Carolina Cruisers has events almost every week. Most are "Shine and Show" cruiseins at local shopping centers, drive in resturants or mall parking lots. There is also a big show & swap meet held every year at Lowe's speedway. There are many hot rodders and quite a few vintage car restorers in the area. A Restorer in Marshville (3 miles East) has a building like a museum to show cars he has for sale.

Union County requires a building permit for any permanent structure. Permanent is a little difficult to define here but basically any construction which adds value is considered permanent.

Garbage Collection in the town limits of Wingate is on Thursdays. Recycling is also collected on Thursdays. Garbage Collection is included on your water bill each month.

Wingate is a peaceful, quiet town. Some people say there isn't much to do here. That depends on what you enjoy. On Saturday afternoons in the fall you might enjoy a great small college football game at Irwin Belk Stadium just north of the Wingate University campus or hike the new town Greenway. In the spring there is an art festival and kids begin playing organized sports at the brand new community recreation area.
