Geeez. This thread includes info about the violence being addressed by local authorities. So really, isn't that all that should be said? Isn't that a resolution?

As far as this reflecting poorly on NoDa, that is just silly. This party could have been held anywhere -- the location has nothing to do with the actions that occurred.

Violence is everywhere because people can act out anywhere. I can assure you, there is domestic violence in S. Charlotte that probably rivals the antics at that party. So why we are bringing the location into this discussion as if certain areas of this planet are immune from people acting out and certain places aren't - that is nonsensical.

If you aren't into Gay Fashion shows, Drag Queens, Trannies - WHATEVER - then obviously you won't be attending such events. I don't object to folks having fun and I don't care what lifestyle they may have chosen. We are all free to choose our lifestyles, friends, social circle, etc.

I do care about public displays of violence b/c it demonstrates that folks don't have good coping skills to deal with anger. I worry that too many of our children are exposed to violence "as a solution" to dealing with obstacles in life.

It has been clearly revealed that this was not a big public event - it was a private event. Furthermore, the folks involved with violence have been identified and are being held responsible for their actions.

Trying to tie this event and the craziness that occurred into NoDa as being some dangerous area of the city prone to people acting out is ridiculous.

NoDa is certainly at least middle-upper class. After all we have "gentleman" robbers
Who else has those? So, take THAT South Charlotte people!

The writer implies; the reader infers, as a matter of clarification. You said someone was killed. Killed means a direct action from an outside influence was brought upon the victim, implicitly causing their demise. Although a civil suit could be filed, in criminal court it is nearly impossible to prove fault in a death as a result of an existing medical condition. If someone assaulted the deceased, that may be a different story.

A friend is an attorney. We discussed a similar situation last year after some crime show brought up "scared to death" as a reason to indict for homicide.
