Funny thing about a socialist however. They rarely take a firm public stand on a matter that they must defend. (well maybe not so funny) At best you will get some weasel wording.

The question I responded to was this: What morals is the group fighting for? I have my opinion of the matter. If you don't like it then I assume you will be headed down there to carry a sign. Have fun. LOL
... The morals they are making a stand for include: not denying health benefits to thousands of poor people to make a political point, not further degrading teachers and undermining public education, not making it harder for poor people and students to vote. Those are the morals for which they are fighting.

I'm glad you are in agreement with me as I already said this. They are upset the state is cutting off wealth redistribution as each one of these involves an elimination or reduction in a taxpayer paid for handout to people. The only think different is the description. See "weasel wording". I covered that too.

If a student can't produce the credentials required for voting, then I want to know what college they are attending. That part is nonsense.

Ah. I see. You think teachers get handouts for their work. Good to know where you're coming from.

The elimination of these 'handouts' will only create a huge budget gap, worse health outcomes for poor people, and even worse schools than the ones we already have. We'll all wind up paying for it down the line at a much higher cost than if we had dealt with it now.

The Id laws limit when and where college students can vote. Look at what it has opened up in Watauga County where they removed voting locations from the campus.

Please re-read my definition of socialism. You are making an argument that attempts to discredit me as being anti-education. This would be incorrect. My sister is a public high school English teacher and those poor souls certainly earn every $ they get. This bill won't change that at all. In fact it provides $360M more to public education than what Perdue gave to the schools. What did change was the elimination of tenure and that, IMO, based on what I've heard is desperately needed to flush out some of the garbage that teach in the public schools. It also means some over paid administrators won't get over paid as much. Certainly a good thing.

In regards to the rest. You are certainly entitled to your opinion on taxpayer funded handouts and student voting. (which they don't do anyway) I've no issue with you holding an opinion.

'From what you've heard' is hardly a credible way to base an argument. Teacher tenure is simply in place to ensure that teachers are fired for cause - not because the principal or parents don't like their hair or some other arbitrary reason. Doing away with it is simply a way of getting rid of experienced teachers in favor of younger, cheaper ones. The budget cuts pay and security of teachers. There are no teachers unions in the south and never have been.

I have no argument with you. I only responded because you tried to discredit my opinion by labeling me as anti-education. I've taken care of that. I will point out that giving me your opinion of tenure is no defense in a debate either, but no matter. I take no issue with your opinions. Please extend the same courtesy.

Hope you guys realize that is a fact of life for all other professions as well: engineers, attorneys, accountants, etc.
It is a competitive world we live in and senior professionals need to offer up to date skills at all times. Luckily in the real world most of them know that already (or find out the hard way).

The irony that an event coined "Moral Mondays" is pro-abortion is a great metaphor for what our nation has become...
