We just got back from Charlotte to see different areas. Ballantyne seem interesting to us because of the location. Good public schools, private schools are close as well. My husband's job is by the international airport.

We have visited Weddington and it was too country for us. We are bilingual family and are used to "living in the city". It seems that the closer we are to the city in Charlotte, the less attractive public schools are. I have checked schools for PiperGlan or Stonecroft and was not that impressed. In Ballantyne the public schools have higher ratings. Any other areas that you think we should check out? We also like Longview country club.

Julia, in your situation my best advice is this - look to live closer into the city and buy a little less house so that you can send your kids to private school, if you decide you don't like the public schools. For someone like you who is used to city life I believe you would be much more comfortable in one of our fine established neighborhoods. In particular I think Foxcroft in the South Park area is one you might like. I will send you a link to a home there so you can see an example of one on direct message
