I just got an alert from TripAdvisor Phx to CLT fare of $335 on Nov. 15th and one for $363 on Dec. 3rd. Hope you can take advantage of these.

Charlotte is a hub so it won't be cheap. Check Raleigh, Greensboro, Greenville (SC), Columbia (SC), and possibly Augusta (GA). I know that SC and GA airports sound far away, but they're really not. Have fun!

The upcoming 12 weeks if you avoid the holidays is usually fairly inexpensive. It seems booking at the last second during this time year is cheaper than booking 30 days in advance. Greensboro is only 100 miles away so it's a good option as is Greenville SC (don't confuse it with Greenville NC).

That's a long drive from Columbia to Charlotte. But its cheaper then 500 per person.

What are you talking about? It would be an hour and a half from CAE to Charlotte, very similar as driving from GSP or GSO to Charlotte.
