Kroger and Sheetz both have rewards programs that can reduce the price per gallon.

There is also a relatively new Sheetz at the Mooresville/Troutman exit on I-77. (Exit 42)

Definitely closer than the Statesville store.

I can't speak for Sheetz, but people who I have seen in WaWa frequently are buying hoagies & when I have gone to Quick Trips, in Gastonia, I rarely have seen them buying food other than a bag of chips. I do think that the presence of WaWa could cut into fuel sales at supermarkets.

I did see that Dixie Village in Gastonia has changed hands. The new owners have made needed repairs to the former Winn Dixie / Compare Foods & Wow Supermarket should be opening next month.

I think Bi-Lo #5237, 6320 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28212-3814, opened originally as a Kroger.

Bi-Lo #5444, 1620 Ashley Road, Charlotte re-opened today as a Harvey's Supermarket, a chain that BI-LO acquired from Delahaize.

Default Harris Teeter fuel center open

The Harris Teeter fuel center in Mooresville is now open (corner of NC-150 & Perth Rd).
If you scan your store card, you get 3 cents off. The price posted lastnight was $1.91.

Southeastern Grocers has converted two Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo stores into Harvey's. It will be interesting to see how these experiments succeed. Bi-Lo in the Charlotte area has still ran its course.

Harris Teeter continue to expand fuel stations to existing and new stores.

The $0.03 discount was similar to Ingle's gift cards until its fuel points program began.

I went to Aldi in Gastonia yesterday. The parking lot was still packed, but I didn't have to circle for a spot. An employee said that they had a break for the first week that Publix was open. A customer said that she tried Publix but decided to keep doing most of her shopping at Aldi. I asked her about Harris Teeter. She said that she'll go to them & Publix for some things but will keep buying most of her groceries at Aldi.

I was up there yesterday to go boating and I was surprised by the low prices in that immediate area. Maybe there is some sort of gas war. The price on the sign at that particular HT was 1.89 and some others were at 1.85.

The Bi-Lo Bonus Card still works at Harvey's, according to an add I saw in the Charlotte Observer. Seems like the Harvey's conversion is somewhat of a lower end Bi-Lo, and an attempt to revitalize a poor performing store. Whereas other Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie stores have just gone out of business and pulled out of several markets. Perhaps Charlotte may be next, with competition from Publix and HT on the high end, and the ongoing revitalizing of Food Lion that may improve as a result of the Ahold-Delhaize merger. But if Delhaize actually sold off Harvey's to begin with, then it looks like its already seen its better days, as Southeastern Grocers seems to be acquiring dying brands. Possibly to eventually sell off to a larger competitor for the real estate.
