Sigh. Just got this link in from a friend in the midwest . .. who couldn't help but give me a gentle ribbing - wanting to know - is this what my church is like?

Some days, it is hard to be Southerner (even tho this is campy and spoofy - still - I know this is what my friend really does think most people are like "here in the South.")

Wondering if you've seen the exhibit at the Levine Museum of the New South?

No, I have to admit - like w/ this article- I had read about the exhibit, but have not actually seen it! But very appropriate for this thread.

I need to make a trip to the Levine Museum and haven't been to the Mint in nearly a year (I know - ashamed to admit it).

Maybe we ought to plan a group trip over there . . . do they give group ticket discounts????

I still say - Southerners are the only group of Americans that it is "safe" to disparage.

Of course, so many of the stereotypes do have a ring of truth to them!!!!!!

Mississippi is the deep south, Charlotte is hardly even southern anymore.

I know. You have to pretty much get outside of Charlotte to find things that are traditionally Southern - for the most part. Sad. Even a lot of those areas are changing, too.

Where do you see the South? I see it in old courthouses and churches . . . country fairs and July 4th parades . . . fishing on the bank of the Catawba River (well, when the water level comes back up!) . . . indigenous dogwoods blooming in the woods . . .

So what seems Southern around Charlotte these days????
