I'm moving to Charlotte to work off 85 on W. Harris (Wachovia) but think I want to live in uptown. Based on one afternoon of looking around, I'm thinking 4th ward, but wonder if anyone has any comments about the commute in that direction in the morning, as well as suggestions for apartments in that area that have good reputations. I would love any input you can provide.

Here are the apt's in this area.

Apartment Ratings :: The leading source of apartment reviews by renters for renters.

I wouldn't pay attention much to the ratings on here unless there are many many samples.

I want to add I dont think you can rent here anymore. The Fourth Ward Square Apartments
501 North Graham Street, Charlotte, NC

That's where the new Citidan building is going.

The Arbors is one of the cheaper places to live in 4th ward. It was built in 84'. It's also probably one of the closest apt. to night life....the rest are condos for rent if you want to get much closer. Post is a little closer and newer it's also completely gated entrances it's directly next door to the Arbors.

They are both very short distances to I-77 and there you can get off on 85 if need be or you can go up 5th and hit independence and take a left on Albamarle Rd. and get a little further down Harris very easy to get to just about any section of Harris from around here.

I live in 4th Ward and use to work at Wachovia CIC on Harris Blvd & IBM Drive. I worked from 8am - 5pm and it took me no more than 15 minutes ever unless there was an accident. You are driving against traffic both ways coming & going. I always went 77 NORTH to 85 NORTH to Harris Blvd WEST (exit 45 B).

Easy commute and Uptown is a great place to live! Virtually crime FREE!

GOOD LUCK!
