Hello to everybody who read my previous threads on Pineville...here is the update (and a little background for the newbies to my life!)

My wife and I are relocating to Charlotte here in the middle of May. I thought that I was going to work at the hospital in Pineville but I accepted a position today at Mercy instead. I looked on the map and noticed this hospital was more towards downtown area so I need some help on where to live.

My company supplies me with a apartment so rent is not really an issue (to a certain extent) and the biggest thing for us is location. As I would LOVE to be close to the hospital...I know that sometimes with the downtown areas crime and the other bad elements can be an issue. We had thought about taking a apartment in the ballityne (spelling??) area and we were wondering what kind of commute (time and mileage) that would make for us? Or we better off looking to the east? north? west? of the city???????

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again guys!

Good information will be rewarded with free sushi for the WHOLE city!!! Ok, maybe not for the whole city but maybe for a few select people! Ok, not even that...moving is expensive but I will gladly accept a free sushi dinner from any of you guys!!!! And my wife has authorized me to send a shiny new nickle to anybody who provides us with good information!!!

Uptown Charlotte is THE safest area of the entire city. Someone most have given you wrong information. Uptown is virtually crime FREE! You never hear about crime in Uptown Charlotte.

And is the place to live for young professionals! You could be at work in under 5 minutes from Uptown. There are several very nice apartments in Uptown too. Not cheap but you pay for location, location, location.

GOOD LUCK!

Are you saying she is a "Gold Digger"

Is he gonna be at the Bobcats Arena or Time Warner Arena...have they actually changed the name yet?

Uptown Charlotte is VERY safe! Police are usually everywhere and keep it that way!

Lofts are hard to find. Mostly condo's Uptown from about $175,000 for 500 sq feet to about $3M for some penthouses.

There is a wide range of prices Uptown. Uptown is a great investment. We have doubled our money in 6 1/2 yeas.

And you NEVER hear about crime in Uptown Charlotte. Couldn't tell you the last time there was negative publicity or news about Uptown Charlotte.

I would personally look in 4th Ward...then I would check out 3rd Ward.

They are fixing to build in 2nd Ward (the Epicentre) is considered 2nd Ward and should open next year. That is where the new W Hotel is going...and 2 blocks awayis the new Ritz Carlton Hotel Charlotte.

I think the BF found something online so that's where we're heading to. I liked it there too. I stayed there when I went for a tour of J&W.
