Yeah, I don't know why they don't move to CA or FL. From the sounds of it, Beverly Hills is the place to be for bums.

I didn't see the story but I have been thinking about another story I saw a couple years ago about a young boy who asked his mother why there were people living in the streets. When she told him about homeless people, he insisted on taking blankets out of their home and distributing the blankets to those people. When word got around town about what he did, others donated blankets or money to buy them and a whole new movement was founded. That is true story and may have made the national news. What if we all did that? And added a sandwich, as well.

I knew one year Mecklenburg Sheriff was having a issue with homeless committing petty crime so that they could land in a nice warm jail cell , showered, fed so they could stay out of the cold.
It got to be a revolving door and Im not sure if the issue was address and how do you stop the revolving from occuring . I think it kinda smart from looking at it through homeless eyes.
Im getting strong urge to go out and buy some coats.

Unfortunately when the economy sours, more and more people will end up on the streets. Its really sad. I'm not going to get into the issues of why people end up like this. There are many different reasons.

We donate to the salvation army and have given a ton of cans for toys for tots. If everyone could donate SOMETHING (whether time, or clothes/canned goods), things would be a little easier for some of these people.

I'm thankful that my family is HEALTHY and we have the basic necessities to make us comfortable. Everything else is gravy.

+1 It is so easy to donate a few canned items, and especially old coats/clothes this time of year.
The fact is that people would be more charitable if not for oppressive taxation at every turn.

I've heard that there are homeless people out there that WANT to be homeless! No responsiblities is one of the main reasons some of these folks choose this life. Heck, some of these homeless people have even been in the news b/c they were offered help to get off of the streets and not be homeless......and they declined. So, what is society suppose to think of that?? Some of the homeless have medical issues, but don't/can't get help. Others just want a "hand-out" of food and some spare change. That is fine.
A lot of us think, "those poor, poor people", while, truth be known, some of them DO want to be homeless.
