High-class, upscale seafood restaurant Aquavina, at 435 South Tryon, had the second worst inspection score this week.

One of its big problems was in the bathroom where inspectors noticed there were no paper towels. And at a place called Aquavina, the “aqua” sure was causing problems. The water used to clean dishes is supposed to be at least 130 degrees. In this case, it was just 107.

Aquavina did give us a statement which read, in part, “Once we discovered the problem, we immediately removed the food…we are currently awaiting re-inspection to return to A status.”

For now, though, the restaurant’s score is 76.5.

I personally wouldn't be concerned about no paper towels...just tell the manager and they will replace them. I would be more concerned about the temperature to clean the dishes.

Truth be known...if we knew what all went on at all restaurants...we probably wouldn't step foot into any restaurant or not many.

Not necessarily. I have worked in several. Most have been clean with a few exceptions. The health inspections are a good snapshot of what goes on. Granted, there is the fact they are there, but things like food temps, etc, should be correct all the time and you can't fake them. No papertowels is bad because if you leave your hands wet after washing, bacteria sticks to them more, so it should be a critical violation.

I would get the manager to replace the paper towels and re-wash my hands personally.

From a customer point of view, sure you go back and wash your hands.
The inspectors point of view is for the workers who are not washing their hands and drying them correctly.
