How do you feel about the choice that was made?

Of the 3 he was my favorite - I like his past experience with gangs and his seemingly tough approach to criminals.

Anyone will be better than the last chief. Hopefully this one will allow his men and women to be cops and not social workers.

$185k per year is a bit steep. Hope he lives up to the acclaim. Do we get a refund policy?

I for one feel that any police cheif that can turn around crime in Richmond VA, and drop the murder rate by 32% there is more then welcome here. He was my favorite candidate and I don't care how much he is being paid just as long as he does his job. YOu know there is an old belief, pay someone well and they will do their job better. I think the new police cheif will have his hands full trying to curve the crime rates here, but I think it can and will be done, it just takes time.

I think it's GREAT that this city FINALLY went outside of their existing staff to hire a leadership position!

It's not done by one person. I think we all as a whole need to work together to bring these crime rates down. Neighbors need to get to know their neighbors. Is it me or does it seem like folks are less likely to enter act with each other?

No I agree. People keep to themselves these days. I think on some level you should know your neighbors as it can always help in dire situations.
I'm hoping the new chief will be a good replacement. He obviously has a good tract record and basically no ties in the CLT area, which I think is also good. Let's see, time will tell.

He could solve every crime the first day on the job and round up every thug in Charlotte. The question is are the judges going to put these guys away?

I am sure that the new guy is very good, but I would personally be insulted if I were a local police officer and my chief had been imported in from another city. Are there not any dedicated, hard-nose candidates in Mecklenburg County?
