I'm curious about a sign I recently saw on a trail at Col. Beatty Park and wondered if anyone knows any of the back story so I can rest assured that "Amber" is okay now -- or at least know some of the back story.
The sign is next to a tree that appears to be living even though it has nearly fallen down. The sign says, "This tree is dedicated to Amber, who also refused to die."
Wow!!! Maybe it is, momtothree! It would be surprising for a sign here to be honoring someone in Lenoir, though, unless she has relatives nearby. Amazing story. I've been thinking it was someone who was very sick because of the reference to the fallen tree, but maybe I'm wrong. Thanks for alerting me to this possibility.
I thought the same thing, that it's a bit far but didn't see any other Amber referenced online. It might be a non news item as well. I know the Park has a facebook page they answer questions on. Might want to ask there as well.
I've just posted the question on the trailblazers forum, Native_Son. Thanks again for the suggestion!
