I'm from the north and live in Concord.....I do not consider it redneck at all....just lots of other northerners for the most part! Lowes Motor Speedway is located in Concord so maybe they just equate redneck with Nascar.....but I do believe a lot of people who go to those races are not from Concord. Just because you live where the speedway is doesn't mean you are into Nascar! I know I'm not!
I'm close to Huntersville and never felt that way about there either.
Both are good choices IMO.....but one must form their own opinions so just go with your gut! I love this area of Concord as it's close to everything yet not too congested yet....although I'm sure it will come! Great schools too!

I do know someone who likes to drive around in Huntersville blairing these two songs on their car stereo

YouTube - Charlie Daniels - South's Gonna Do It Again

YouTube - Osborne Brothers - Rocky Top

Being a proud southerner isnt redneck .

actually, the majority of nascar fans I have met are from the north. upstate NY to be exact. I don't think that it's a north south thing. rural is rural. some would call deer hunting a redneck thing, but the most rabid hunters I have met were from above the mason dixon line.

When we looked at houses we considered both Huntersville and Concord. We decided that Huntersville is good if you want to be close to more choices in shopping, dining, entertainment but your price is that traffic at times will be hairy. Concord is good if you want a quieter life but are a very short drive to the shopping, dining, entertainment. For sure check out Union Street in Concord, it's a great street to park and stroll down with interesting shops, good eats and beautiful old houses.
As for the redneck comments, I would say that speaks more about him then the supposed people he's talking about.

Like I said, I was shocked when he said that, especially since when I was up there and checking out houses, the realtors and new construction sales people all said the same thing -- "90 percent of the people I show houses too are from Florida, New York or New Jersey" -- so I figured his comment was inacurate.

P.S. I'm from Fort Lauderdale, am not a redneck and enjoy NASCAR !

Hello frustrated, we relocated from Davie Fl last January, and we really like it. We too enjoy nascar and I wouldn't consider us rednecks.

As too your question, Concord is nice, both the south end and the north, the north seems to be a little older with long established neighborhoods while the South end closer to the race track seems much newer (think Hollywood to west Miramar).

My favorite stretch is along Weddington rd, definately worth a look.

Huntersville also seems nice but I don't know it as well, one thing that always stands out when driving through Huntersville is the traffic, it's very crowded over there. But it does seem nice.

Hope this helps and good luck!
