I often read where people say Charlotte is a safe and friendly city but to someone that takes what these media publications like Forbe's seriously they may start developing different opinions from what they first thought about Charlotte, what's your take on how dangerous Charlotte is.

After a year with seven murders within a mile of our home, we moved. Most homes around us had been robbed too. I could not let our children out of my sight. I can't live like that. We left in 1975. We moved into a nice neighborhood and the government came in with something called the 235 plan which had someone living in a five bedroom home paying full price and the government moved someone beside them in the same size home with a house payment of $80. Of course the person paying full price moved. There goes the neighborhood. We stayed as long as we could to try to make it work, but in the end you have to think of your family. I see it on the five o'clock news all the time. I was told one day that on Halloween, the police would not even make calls there because it was so dangerous. This was a few years back. Nanny government ruins a nice city.

Charlotte now has a good police chief that is making some headway. He has to be a brave man to have that job with so many gangs in the area. We should all pray for him and all his staff.

We should have sent Forbes more money. We could have cracked the "Top Ten" list. Oh well, there's always next month!

Default Charlotte #14 on most dangerous metro-cities

Charlotte was listed as #14 on the most dangerous metro areas in the US. What surprised me was Atlanta is not in the list. I work in Charlotte 3-4 days a week and live in Atlanta and I to say I agree. The crime is wierd because it's not where you'd think. I know of someone who lives in a nice neighborhood/area in Charlotte and their HOA news letter post home invasions and car break-in's.
