We are looking at communities around hwy 74, in Monroe, close to River Hills CC. I noticed on a map that the Monroe airport is close by. I know it is a small airport, but my question is how small. Is there a lot of air traffic around that area that anyone has noticed.
I like the homes in this area, but I certainly do not want to hear planes all the time.
Thanks for your input.

I've driven by that airport numerous times and have never seen a plane take off or land there I think it's a 1 runway airport, and it might be used mainly for private or charter planes. If you live right next to it, you might be bothered by the annoying, flashing runway lights at night (they're very bright). But if you're a couple of minutes away, I don't think it would be an annoyance at all.

Default Monroe Airport Expansion news

See Page 3 on this link for a recent newspaper article about the Monroe airport...

Do you mean Rolling Hills Country Club? Rolling Hills is across Hwy 74, as I recall. The airport runs between Old Monroe Rd/Charlotte Highway and Goldmine Rd through an industrial park along Airport Road. I sometimes cut through Goldmine/Airport Rd to get to Monroe shopping. The runway area is fenced in and the charter planes seem to be coming from the Goldmine Rd side for landing. Do read the article on the link above, because it refers to expansion of the airport.

Default airport

We are right near it at St. John's forest and I haven't heard or seen any planes yet.
