I haven't really kept up with the story, but I am not holding much credibility in the step mom's story, her 2 minutes of fame. But, I can't see NASCAR trying to "frame" someone either, what would they gain by that? He was a small team owner and these small teams are stuggling anyway. Will have to see how it plays out.
One of my very favorite NASCAR commercials of all time is, Hey Jeremy!
First of all, Jeremy doesn't hold any resemblance of anyone who has used meth as they are stating he has. Did he do it once, possibly? But not as they are portraying him. There is no way what so ever that he could have gotten in the car and driven.
As to why Nascar would lie? Why wouldn't they? Nascar is a very large corporation, it is to big actually. It is a corporation that got to big to fast and is losing control. Every corporation has to have a fall guy and unfortunately it could be Mayfield. Another reason why I call BS, is the fact that when Mayfield retained Bill Diehl, nascar got REALLY quiet.
Mayfield's step mom saw a way to make a quick buck, bless her heart.
Who knows how it will play out, but like I said, based on what is being told...I don't buy it.
I know what family situations can do and this is not the first stepmom to cause problems in a racing organization (need I say more? Well, figure it out - cause I ain't saying another word, LOL!!!)
There are many drugs that can affect a drug test. I saw a special on CNN a while back, for ex., and the guy had tested positive for opiates. He had been taking cough syrup with codeine. Also, there is a new drink that is out on the market - can't remember the name of it (maybe someone else will know? An energy drink) and if you drink enuff of that stuff, it will test positive for cocaine. (No, this is not an urban myth - I will see if I can find a link).
Regardless, it seems to me there is a WHOLE lot more to this story and it sounds like a lot of BS is being flung around as "gospel."
I am not quick to judge in these situations . . . the media loves to play up the drama - but these are real lives and real careers being weighed in the balance . . . and I prefer to assume that when the truth comes out . . . this situation has a whole lot more to do with money than with drugs.
