So this is the second time that I've gotten a large construction bolt in the tire of the MB in my own community!!! I really DO NOT feel like dropping $400 on a new tire as its just on the edge of the sidewall and more than likely not be able to be patched!! Aggravation occurring..

Just smile smile smile smile and breathe!

No, she is using a special tire and it costs a bundle (used to have them on my MB years in the past).

Himain, my tires also wore down quickly and even tho they are what is recommended for MB . . . I dumped them and went to a less expensive tire. Methinks you should do that, too, cause in the longrun, the smoother ride is not worth the $$$$.

As for this time . . . it sux but what can you do? I would probably stomp into the contractor's office with the bolt in hand and at least vent my anger on him and ask him for a check. You won't get it, of course, but it would probably make me feel better to demand his peeps do a better job with making sure they are not dropping crap on the roads.

I get roofing nails in my tires ALL the time since I am on the construction site.

I go to Discount Tire and they patch it for free EVERYTIME! Ive always wondered why they do this for free time after time and I think their theory is- you'll eventually come back when its time for a new tire.

So become a regular at Discount Tires! Thats what I do! ;-)

CJ-Obviously you aren't aware of how much the performance tires cost these days?? I have a new MB with AMG wheels on it. I can't imagine what it would cost me if I bent a rim

Anyways, MB roadside came out and changed the tire. Will take a trip to the tire store and see if it can be saved. If not, I'll just buy the same tire. I'm kinda anal about everything matching and its up on Swapalease anyways. Don't want any blah blah blahs about it if I have a buyer, you know??

In 2002 I bent two rims after hitting a BRICK on Providence Rd at 3am taking my wife to the hospital to deliver daughter #2.
That was an expensive surprise.

In 2007 I picked up a roofing nail right on the corner of an RFT with 7xx miles on it - SUCK!

I'm quite certain it is the most expensive tire swing in the neighborhood.

I feel your pain!

I don't about any other dealers out there but when we bought my Camry last July, they offered a tire replacement program for around $250. Basically anything that happens to my tire, as long as it still has 1/4" tread remaining they replace it. They don't even try to patch, it is automatically replaced. i felt like it was worth the money and every time we drive out to see the new house being built I am grateful to not have to worry.

My wife's car has 3 of the 4 tires plugged since last year. I had to fix 2 of them within a month of each other. I've never seen as many screws and nails in the roads as I have down here. I'm with Ani, I've had alot of luck with cheaper Kuhmo tires on sports cars. Unless you're really getting on and hammering the corners, you most likely won't use tires to their fullest. Less expensive tires are quickly catching up to big name tires and you are just paying for the name (unless they don't make your size).

And we don't really have to worry about snow here which lets us get a harder compound which lasts longer.

I also go to Discount tire and just purchased 4 new for my Charger (yes it's a hemi) Got a great deal and they lowered the price to help offset the cost of their replacement tire guarantee. I went with all 4 after getting something through the tire that tore it on the inside and it could not be patched. This happened after driving past the new homes going up. In 3 yrs i have ruined 2 tires and gotten 2 others repaired on 3 different cars. It sucks.
