Mooresville is about 15 miles N of Charlotte on I-77 (watch for traffic in morning and afternoon). It is a fast-growing suburb, which is known for its NASCAR shops, as most of them are around the Mooresville area, including Dale Earnhardt Inc.

Ten years ago, Mooresville was a small city with separation from Charlotte. Now, Mooresville is pretty much a main suburb.

I think of the entire area as Charlotte. When we say we going out on the strip we mean highway 150. If we say we are going uptown we mean Charlotte. Mooresville has a pretty cool location with the lake. Time wise you can be in some parts of Winston Salem quicker than you can Charlotte.

Depends on traffic. I used to live in Mooresville and once during rush hour it took two hours to get from Uptown to exit 33. Needless to say, I'm glad I moved closer to the city. During peak rush hour times, you're lucky to get there in 45 minutes.

Mileage is not a good description when talking about getting from Mooresville to Charlotte.
I live near East Mooresville Intermediate and it can take me 20-25 minutes to get to Target at times.
To get to Charlotte, it could take anywhere from 30 minutes (at, say 2AM) to 2 hours (or even more). The day I moved to NC (I did live in Cornelius), it took me over 90 minutes to get from exit 33 to exit 28 due to an accident. It is not a commute I'd want to make daily.

Mooresville is exit 36 on I-77. Downtown Charlotte is exit 10. Mooresville is a lake town and has a historic downtown and lots of new developments. It is easily accessable to downtown Charlotte. It has lots of amenities, ie. shopping, groceries, clubs, bars, medical, etc. Nothing is lacking there.
