I don't know about concrete countertops. Having grown up in the city, it would remind me of the streets. Think the Bronx streets on a hot, summer's day. I don't want to prepare my meals in the street!!! LOL!!!!!

I guess I'm REALLY outdated...I have oak cabinets. I wanted either cherry or hickory, but they were a $6K upgrade. I do love my oak cabinets!

Hi Rosie,
The concrete counters are really nice, they come in different shades and it looks like different textures, you won't think of the Bronx when you see these

if you saw them you'd like them, they dont look like concrete like you are thinking of at all. They are pretty nice looking but dont know if i'd go their myself on that i am to conservative and stick to the mainstream.

concrete countertops are great. They look great and are fairly cheap. If people have never seen them, they might be thinking of the "sidewalk" look... and they couldnt be more off...

I think you made a good choice.

By the way, I chose a darker cabinet and they make a room look richer. The key to not making them look outdated is your paint, floor and counter choices. Darker cabinets actually have a more modern look than midtones which can look more country if you dont choose correctly.
