Also, the butchers at Greenlife Grocery are very helpful if you are looking for specific cuts of meat.

The European Market is still open and has lots of german goodies, Asbach weinbrand bohnen, the real Mon Cherie at christmas time, Frankfurter, Bayrische und Berliner leberwurst, kinder schokolade usw. The store is on the block across from the fresh market, in front of where Ethan Allen usd to be, in front of Office depot, katty corner from Regions Bank, behind the restaurant. I buy my german bread from Ankars on Brainerd Rd. You have to aks for it specifically, it is available only frozen, its the closest you can come to the real thing. The small loaf of seeded rye from Panera comes close but not quite. Everything else I got a jeeper for I get in Helen Georgia, always a nice long weekend.

They must have moved because they are over near the Curry Pot on Lee Highway across from BiLo.

The European Market did not close. They just moved locations to a shop just next to Bed, Bath, and Beyond behind the mall. They have great Wurst, smoked Mackerel, German bread, and all kinds of German grocery items.

I stopped in at the bakery by the art museum and overheard the owner talk about how they were baking bread now to suit the german palate.

There's a small European Market in the same strip with Bed, Bath & Beyond, Ross, Marshall's, etc.
It's small but they have lots of German stuff. They also carry Stiglemeier products, which is great. Stiglmeier also delivers, they have a great selection of deli meats, etc.

Other than that I have my family send me stuff that I absolutely need. But I think that little European Market has me covered pretty good now.

Are there lots of German people around here?
