I'm tired of the lousy schools, tired of the crime, and tired of the nickel and diming that Daley is doing. I'm also tired of paying all these taxes and having substandard services. I'm tired of the blatant corruption that impacts my every day living and the indifference city hall towards it's constituents. To be honest, if I was wealthy much of this probably wouldn't bother me, but since I am not, it does impact me. So my consideration for the suburbs is more by default. If there were a nice city or town nearby, I'd pick them over any suburb.
EXACTLY. I've had enough, not only of the city, but of Crook County. The few, decent CC suburbs are picking up the tab for the city's antics. Enough.

I love the northwest and west suburbs. I can drive there any time. I'd live there but the commute would kill me.

So, do you still feel that the suburbs are a necessary evil?

It's pretty funny to read my posts from seven years ago. My life has changed quite a bit in that time frame.

If you went back another seven years, I'd probably be advocating burning the suburbs to the ground.

This whole discussion belongs on the Urban Planning forum, it is not specific to Chicago suburbs.
