Just moved from the area, loved it--but did not enjoy the shopping in the area--didn't find it convenient at all. That is one of the best things about living in Vernon Hills!

I've lived in towns with virtually NO crime in the past, and we still locked our doors.

But of course, I'm sure you've got some complicated system of booby traps, right?

I have a not so complicated system of booby traps to commandeer boobys but it is a secret.

What are the demographics?
Is it safe?
What is the economic condition?
What's the employment situation like? Where do most people work?
What are the schools like?
How does it compare to affluent suburbs like, Lake Forest, Winnetka, Evanston, etc.?

The more info you can provide, the better.

Thanks.

Check out all the groups on Facebook for Oak Park, IL. Wealth of info there.

Great diversity, great access to the Chi and suburbs, great schools, compares well to North shore but you don't pay for living on the lake.

What type of shopping did you find lacking?

I know that North Riverside Mall is right there-but I really didn't like shopping there. I Just like regular place women like to power shop and blow money on stuff they don't need-to name just a few --

Nordstrom
Target
Home Goods
TJ Maxx
Macys
Carson's
Etc.

I usually ended up shopping in Oakbrook all the time- which was not convenient!!!

FYI - shopping certainly wasn't the dealbreaker for moving---it was the commute to work!

Depending on where you live in OP, the Brickyard is really convenient and has pretty good stuff, including a great Target.

The Brickyard is great. We can go to Target, Lowes, Starbucks, Jewel, Chipotle, and Babys R Us (technically not in the Brickyard, but right next door) all in one trip.
