That August '08 storm was the worst storm I've ever been in. The video doesn't do it justice. There was some pretty serious damage in Buena Park, and our power was out for three days. Part of our roof was ripped off. A friend of mine saw a cab spun around 180 degrees on Lake Shore Drive. Bad bad bad. They think it was a "mircroburst".

Here's some photos I took outside a few minutes ago. The change in hue in the sky took place dramatically over about 2 minutes. No effects were used to make the colors this way. It was ominous outside.

Not me. I survived a hurricane in New Orleans in the 80's and a storm in Kentucky in the 90's in which I saw 5 tornado's in the sky at the same time!

That storm in 2007 years ago here was a tornado. It just died down a bunch once it got into the city. I think you have the years confused.

I saw a metal garbage can flying in the air across Addison while I was driving home...

You're right. It was 8/23/2007. I took a bunch of digital damage photos around Buena Park, so I'm sure about that date.

I even made the mistake last Friday when I was talking to a guy as the storm approached Friday. Man time sure goes by. I had no power for three days as well in 2007.

The sky at 8:30 last night was breathtaking! On one side, a complete rainbow, on the other, huge rays of light piercing the clouds, all in a yellow sky. Awesome.

Surlycue, those pics were superb. Thank you for posting those.
